Obituary of Lloyd Carpenter

Lloyd Carpenter passed away on Saturday March 24th 2018. Lloyd was born on April 29th 1938, to the late Bill and Flora Carpenter. Lloyd was a member of Midway Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge of Tazewell.
 
Lloyd began his long history of hard work as an attendant at Crutchfield’s Service Station when he was 16 years old. There, he trained and became a well-known mechanic in the Tazewell area. In 1962 Lloyd became the owner/ operator of Joe’s Esso in Tazewell, until he was employed as the 1st Automobile Mechanics teacher at Claiborne County Vocational School when it opened in 1970.

In 1973, Lloyd began his truly beloved career as a Sales Representative at Bushline Corp. There he became the #1 salesman year after year until his retirement at the age of 75.  Additionally, he assisted in construction of the facilities and maintained the mechanical condition of the trucking system in the early years of his career with Bushline.

Lloyd is survived by his loving Wife of 60 years, Christine, Daughter, Angie and husband (Rudy) of New Tazewell,  Son, Gary and wife (Mildred) of Southern Pines, North Carolina, Grandchildren Christy and husband (Tony), Nick and wife (Sarah), all of Tazewell. Celeste and husband (Brady) of Southern Pines North Carolina, Sara and husband (Eric) of Johnson City TN., 7 Great Grandchildren, his brother Jack and wife( Nancy), and Sister Audrey all of Knoxville and a host of other beloved relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 on Wednesday, March 28th with a Masonic Service and Funeral to follow with Rev. Eddie Overholt officiating. Eulogy will be provided by Gary Bush. Music will be provided by Barbara Hatfield and David Painter.

Graveside services will be Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 11 AM in the Fairview Cemetery.
